About

Hola!

I'm a teacher, artist, and gardener from Boston, now living in Havana, Cuba. Although I'm a lifelong painter and have shown and sold my artwork in the Boston area and around the world, my primary profession and passion is as an educator. I've taught English and literacy in inner-city public high schools and community college, gardening in juvenile detention facilities, and art in adult education centers.

In 2011 I decided to follow my curiosity about the real origins of good food as a gateway to broader social issues, and ended up spending three years working on organic farms in Australia. During that time, I also began an illustrated book of narrative nonfiction about farm wisdom and the good life I was experiencing. Subsequently, I lived in Japan and Russia, also developing illustrated narratives.

Now I live in Havana, Cuba where I paint, dance, spend time with my neighbors, and collaborate with local colleagues to teach English in our neighborhood and host small groups of creative people from around the world (Cuba Art Adventures in the name of that project and you can find out more at www.cubaartadventures.com).
